The Only Sign You Need to Book A Reiki Appointment

I Like to Say that Reiki Found Me

As cliché as it may sound, the pandemic shone a spotlight on the true state of my mental health and forced me to face it head on. In the summer of 2020, I finally began seeing a doctor and receiving much-needed treatment. I believe this treatment helped me reconnect with my inner wisdom and spirituality in a way I hadn’t experienced since childhood.

As I explored spiritual practices and other holistic options for my wellbeing, Reiki slowly inched its way into my consciousness. Then one day, I sat down and searched for local Reiki practitioners. I was already seeing a licensed healthcare professional, but it still didn’t feel like enough. Something was missing from my wellness equation. So I visited a promising website, looked around — and decided it wasn’t for me. Not yet.

In that moment, I wasn’t ready. I worried I wouldn’t have the same experiences others described. If you feel the same way, I want you to know those feelings are completely valid. The universe was clearly sending signs, but I wanted bigger signs. I wanted a guarantee — something that would make me feel confident in my decision to give Reiki a try.

Instead, I continued reading library books and exploring Reiki on YouTube. I met Reiki practitioners through my psychic development classes, which were also taught by a Reiki Master Teacher. Over time, I discovered how soothing Reiki videos were for me — how they made me feel calm, relaxed, and cared for. It was exactly the feeling I needed. By the time my teacher invited me to sign up for a class, I still hadn’t received Reiki in a formal setting, but it felt familiar. Through that class, I became a Reiki I/II Practitioner. Since then, I’ve become a Reiki Master. It felt good to do something for myself — energizing, a spiritual confidence boost. It was the right move for me.

Not everyone curious about Reiki will have the same experience, let alone a desire to become a practitioner. Whoa! Slow down! you’re probably thinking. I just want to know if it’s right for me. Inhale. Exhale. We’re in no rush.

My path to Reiki was winding, unhurried, and entirely my own. And I think that’s the point. There’s no single moment that marks you as “ready.” There’s no checklist to complete or threshold to cross. Reiki has a quiet way of waiting for you until you’re open to receiving it. So wherever you are on your journey — just beginning to wonder, or already standing at the door — know that your timeline is the right one.

Reiki is a beautiful, loving energy. It helps calm the mind and body, but it isn’t a magical cure. You won’t walk away from a single session feeling like your whole life is in order. It’s a moment in time where you take a deep breath, sit back, and allow yourself to relax and begin making decisions from an empowered place. It invites you to look within and notice what needs attention — to think of inspired actions that help you get back on track. Maybe one session is enough to feel reinvigorated. Maybe you’ll need a few before you feel focused and in control of your journey again. The real sign that you’re ready for your first Reiki session is the moment you look within and say, “I’m ready for a change.”

If you’re still unsure whether Reiki is a good fit, here are a few reasons people turn to it.

Spiritual Connection

Reiki is a deeply spiritual practice. While it isn’t a religion, Reiki energy is considered sacred by practitioners. During a session, many people report feeling temperature fluctuations, buzzing, tingling, or vivid meditative experiences. For those who don’t notice physical sensations, the deep restful state that a session can invite often feels meaningful and restorative in its own right. However your experience unfolds, this kind of intentional spiritual connection can feel deeply reassuring and positive.

Wellness Support

While Reiki isn’t a medical treatment and hasn’t been scientifically proven to treat or cure illness, many people find that it meaningfully supports their overall sense of wellbeing. Rest and relaxation are widely recognized as important contributors to how we feel day to day, and Reiki offers both in a intentional, nurturing setting. Think of it less as an alternative to modern medicine and more as a complement to it — a gentle invitation for your body and mind to slow down.

Finding Peace

Our world is busier and more connected than ever. The noise, notifications, emails, and general overwhelm are reason enough to seek out quiet spaces. If you’re feeling tired, stressed, or burnt out, Reiki can offer the respite you’re looking for — even in your own home. In the Reiki room, we dim the lights, play restorative music, silence our phones, and set the intention to find stillness.

Starting Something New

Did you know you can use Reiki while setting new goals for yourself? Writing our intentions and aligned actions down signals to our brains that we’re ready to refocus on something new. By setting intentions with Reiki, we give ourselves dedicated time and space to dream big and get creative. When we quiet the mind and think positively about new goals, we set ourselves up for success.

Closing a Chapter

Sometimes life hands us lemons — and we’re done making lemonade. We need a safe space to process our emotions and release what no longer serves us. Reiki allows us to let go of negative, stagnant, or outdated energy. These sessions help us honor what we’re ready to release and leave us feeling lighter as we move forward.

Are You Ready?

As I mentioned, these are just a handful of ways Reiki can bring healing into your life. If you’re still unsure, I encourage you to take your time. Find a quiet space, take a few breaths, and tune into your inner voice. If you’d like to learn more, feel free to reach out for a consultation.

There’s no pressure here, and there’s no wrong answer. Whether Reiki calls to you now or somewhere down the road, the most important thing is that you’re already listening to yourself — and that’s a beautiful place to start. When the time feels right, I’m here.
