From the day we’re born until the end of our lives, we are learning, growing, stressing, celebrating, making mistakes, and taking big steps forward. If the point of life is to learn and grow, then I think we’re all doing a pretty remarkable job — though that doesn’t make it any less exhausting. Being human is a lot of work, and sometimes we forget to slow down. We forget to look around and simply enjoy the journey.
We are constantly looking ahead to the next step, the next milestone, the next job promotion, course credit, or big life event. But when did you last stop to enjoy the present moment? When did you last check in with yourself long enough to ask whether that next milestone is truly aligned with what you want — or whether you’re chasing it because you feel like you’re supposed to?
Looking back to the summer when my personal Reiki journey began, I can honestly say I was feeling lost. There was a disconnect between my reality and my inner life — between where I was and any sense of purpose, between the constant stress and burnout of daily life and my own inner magic. I think many of us can relate to that feeling. Life feels so much better when we have a sense of agency and direction. The question is: how do we get it back?
If you’ve ever wandered into the self-help section of a bookstore, you know it can feel like a thousand voices offering a thousand definitive answers: wake up early, exercise more, stop caring what others think, journal, meditate — the list goes on. It’s overwhelming. As someone with a library card and a genuine thirst for knowledge, I can tell you there’s no single right answer for everyone. All any of us can truly speak to is our own journey. When you think about it, every self-help book is exactly that — a story about what worked for one person, offered with the hope that it might help someone else.
Reiki is a simple, gentle Japanese practice that uses universal life force energy to promote relaxation and wellbeing. It is non-invasive and requires no particular belief system to benefit from — just an openness to being still.
So amid all the chaos, confusion, and outside noise telling us what we should be doing, Reiki energy healing invites us to simply be still. To find quiet time to reflect, release, and breathe. And in those quiet Reiki sessions, I find my way back to my inner magic. I can hear my inner voice and its gentle guidance. Inspiration and creativity finally find their way back into my decision-making.
When I call in Reiki, I feel a wave of calm wash over me. There is a subtle energetic shift that flows through me — a sensation I attribute to Reiki energy moving through my body. That wave of sensation helps me find stillness. Sometimes I am able to clear my mind completely; other times I have meditative experiences that bring me genuine insights about my current situation. Either way, after a self-Reiki session, I feel calmer and more able to look at the world around me with a new clarity.
By inviting in Reiki healing energy, I give myself permission to heal what I’m ready to release. As old hurts and past memories fall away, space opens up — space to remember, to forgive myself and others, to revisit old hobbies and explore new ones, and to build the healthy boundaries that support the life I want. Over the years I’ve been practicing, I’ve experienced something of a personal renaissance: a gradual remembering of who I wanted to be and what I truly want from my life.
It didn’t happen overnight. I didn’t sign up for one Reiki session and suddenly feel ready to take on the world. It took many sessions just to help me find my footing — to begin to see clarity in my path. One intention at a time, one small change at a time.
What stands out most is how continuous the healing process has been. But the good news is that with each step, things begin to feel lighter. Easier to move on from. Easier to close the chapter on. And with each release comes more space to create the life I want to live.
I believe there’s no single tool for healing — it looks different for everyone. In addition to Reiki, I journal, read tarot cards, attend talk therapy, receive acupuncture, and more. The path to healing can be deliberate, but it also requires curiosity and a willingness to think outside the box.
Reiki has been a powerful tool for finding the quiet moments I need to reconnect with my intuition — the guiding voice within that knows my heart’s desires. It’s my hope that Reiki can offer others that same solace and connection.
If you’re ready to slow down and reconnect with yourself, I’m here. Book a Reiki energy healing session in Colorado Springs or virtually, and let’s find your stillness together.
