My cursor hovered over the “Schedule Now” link. What if it doesn’t help? What if I spend all this money and nothing happens? What if it’s all a waste? I sat back, fear creeping in. What if I trusted the wrong solution? I was already working with a doctor on my mental health. It should be enough. But somehow it wasn’t.
I kept scrolling. Then I spotted a class for psychic development. Maybe that’s what I needed — a community. Not a random energy treatment. I clicked that link instead.
The Link I Almost Didn't Click
At the time, I didn’t know much about Reiki. My dad’s cousin was attuned and did a living room demonstration while visiting my family when I was in high school. And that was pretty much it. I honestly can’t remember what made me start searching for a Reiki practitioner in Colorado Springs in the first place. What I do know is that after a year of taking psychic development classes, I noticed something interesting about my fellow students. Many of them were Reiki attuned at various levels and said it had helped open up their intuition. So when my teacher mentioned an upcoming class, I was already halfway sold. I wanted deeper intuition — and if Reiki could also support my mental health, that was a bonus.
The Leap of Faith
For someone who hesitated to book a single session, I sure did jump headlong into a full training! I have to laugh looking back. I did zero research. I had no idea about the history, the science, or even that different teaching methods and styles existed. It was a leap of faith in search of a little extra magic.
I arrived at class feeling shy and uncertain. I didn’t have a plan. Going around the room, it seemed like everyone else knew more than I did and had a clear intention for their attunement. But as the day unfolded, I relaxed. Reiki, as it turned out, is a Japanese relaxation technique that works with universal life force energy — highly intelligent, knowing exactly where to go without any direction. As a practitioner, I would simply be the channel, inviting healing energy in when it was needed most. We practiced sacred symbols and hand placements with each other, and I even experienced distant healing online with someone across the country. That October weekend is one I’ll never forget.
After our final attunement, our teacher encouraged us to practice self-Reiki for at least 21 consecutive days — a way for new practitioners to tend to their own healing before working with others.
What Reiki Actually Feels Like
I probably should have done that. But building new habits is harder than keeping old ones. I remembered to use Reiki when I was feeling low or under the weather, but I was terribly inconsistent in the beginning. Even so, inconsistent is better than nothing.
This past summer, I took a more intentional approach. Now I do everything I can to give myself the gift of stillness every day, even if it’s just five minutes before bed.
Has my intuition increased? Honestly, it’s hard to say — I wasn’t tracking synchronicities or intuitive hits at the time. What I can say is that Reiki has helped me develop a deeper awareness of my emotions and how I respond to them. When I invite Reiki to flow, I feel a calming energy move through my body. My mind quiets. My breath slows. I drop into a meditative state that is otherwise very difficult for me to reach. And when my mind is still and my heart feels full, I feel like myself again. If I had known that’s what was waiting for me, I would have booked that first appointment without a second thought.
If you’ve been hovering over that “Schedule Now” button the way I once did, I want you to know that curiosity is reason enough to try. I’d love to be your first Reiki experience. Book a session in Colorado Springs and let’s find that stillness together.
